Life & work
Choosing music
In a 2025 interview, Monicki Firouzmand described how restrictions on women singers in Iran had once made a musical career seem out of reach. In her final year of high school, she decided to leave her entrance-exam preparations behind and pursue music.2 Before attending Berklee College of Music, she studied psychology for three semesters in Iran. She went on to study contemporary writing and production at Berklee, with psychology as her minor; the college's BPM Research Lab also lists her as a research assistant.4
The 2026 Eastern Psychological Association programme credits her as a coauthor of a poster examining improvisation training and auditory statistical learning.8
She describes her musical aim as bringing Middle Eastern traditions together with jazz and pop.2 Talking about her online audience, she said she valued listeners who cared about her music over large follower counts. The covers she shared, she explained, needed to be songs that resonated with her.2
Songs and collaborations
Pumpkin Latte, featuring Hamzeh Yeganeh, sits alongside shared releases such as Blue with Mona Davar. With Rian, she co-wrote and sang Rakhte Tane Delbar; they also released Maashoogh E Jan.5961011
Her collaboration with Pallett brought her voice together with Omid Nemati's on It Won't Stay the Same. Pallett composed, arranged and produced the song, with an ensemble including cello, saxophone, clarinet and trumpet alongside guitar, bass and drums.3
She also invites listeners to sing: when sharing the instrumental version of Faryaade Entezaar, she asked them to sing over it and tag her. Her channel carries her Hamishe cover. She also shared Belik with Dina, identifying it as a song by Taha Omrani with words by Shams al-Olama.3
Folk programmes and live recordings
The programme for Winds and Tides at the 2024 ASEEES convention in Boston lists her among the Pletenitsa Balkan Choir’s sopranos, with Bulgarian songs making up the choir’s repertoire.1213
The programme for Berklee's 39th International Folk Festival named her as a vocalist in both its Khorasan and Armenian repertoire. In September 2025, she was among the singers at Let Her Sing in San Francisco, documented in the organizer's retrospective video.1415
She also appears on five tracks of Hossein Meimani's 2026 album Reng-e Farah (Live at the Warehouse), including Bar Gisouyat Ey Jan.116
The video of her live cover of Bolandam Kon–Dobare at Takotook in Toronto carries a dedication to people killed in Iran in January 2026 and expresses solidarity with survivors and their families.17

However, due to the significant restrictions on female musicians in Iran, particularly female singers, I never seriously considered pursuing music as a university major or a professional career, despite my deep love for it.
In my final year of high school, with less than a year until the Konkur, I made the bold decision to abandon two years of relentless academic preparation and follow my heart.
My goal is to create music that blends the richness of Middle Eastern traditions with the expressive freedom of jazz and the accessibility of pop.
While gaining a large following can be exciting for any artist, I’ve always prioritized attracting a loyal, art-loving audience over simply chasing numbers.
As a singer, I’ve always believed that any cover I share should first and foremost resonate with me.
