Life & work
The first trio
The band’s first album was Nahal-e Heyrat.2 Its early live activity included a private concert at Tehran’s Russian Orthodox church in winter 1380 SH, described as its first live performance.2 Persian Wikipedia describes Hafez Ashegh Ast as a two-song collection and the group’s last work with its original line-up.2
The chronology of Hafez Ashegh Ast remains unresolved. An archived official discography gives March 2001, the current official catalogue gives 1380 SH, and Persian Wikipedia describes the two songs as being released through the band’s website before Nowruz 1382.342
Continuing with new musicians
In the band’s account, difficulties working in Iran led to changes in the original line-up, and Sharbaf continued O-Hum with different musicians from 1380 SH onward.1 Earlier songs also became material for E-HUM, a collection of remixes drawn from the band’s work of 1378–1388 SH. Sharbaf is credited with the remixing, production and engineering.43
In Kherghe Biandaz was recorded with a younger line-up. O-Hum’s history describes it as the group’s first officially released album in Iran, recorded and released after the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance granted permission for the band to work there after twelve years. That account places both the permission and the album in 1391 SH; the band’s catalogue dates the album to 1392 SH, while Spotify gives 2014. Its original release year remains unsettled.145
The live album O Hum Dar Azadi preserves the complete fifteen-song concert at Tehran’s Azadi Tower. The band’s history describes its release by نشر کوک as a double CD.1
The trio returns, and Version Two begins
In autumn 1400 SH, Sharbaf, Riahipour and Izadkhah began work on Shatt-e Sharab. The band describes this as the original members’ first full-album collaboration in two decades. As on the debut, only the three of them made the recording; Izadkhah recorded his guitar parts in Vancouver and sent them to the others.1 They offered the album through O-Hum’s and Sharbaf’s websites, letting listeners choose the price, including free downloads, which remained available for six months. The group dates this direct release to 17 Esfand 1400; Apple Music separately gives 15 March 2022.16
In Shahrivar 1403 SH, O-Hum began Version Two, a strand of its work using poetry other than Hafez’s, different music and a distinct logo. The band’s history reports three released singles under this name.1 Its catalogue identifies My Story (داستان من) and Missing EP (گمشده) as second-generation O-Hum singles.4

گروه راک اوهام در سال 1378 با حضور شهرام شعرباف (خواننده/ گیتار/ کیبورد) ، شاهرخ ایزدخواه (گیتار/سه تار/سینتی سایزر) و بابک ریاحی پور (باس) در تهران شکل گرفت و از آن زمان نزدیک به سه دهه در سبک راک فارسی در داخل ایران فعال بوده است.
حاصل ترکیب موزیک راک غربی با موسیقی و سازهای ایرانی به همراه اشعار حافظ ، صدایی گوش نواز و مدرن بوده که به مدت چند دهه شنوندگان ایرانی (و غیر ایرانی) بسیاری را همراه خود نموده است.
با وجود تغییر ترکیب اولیه اوهام به دلایل مشکلات بی شمار برای فعالیت در کشور مادری، شهرام شعرباف از سال 1380 تا به امروز فعالیت گروه را با همراهی موزیسین های مختلفی ادامه داه است.
در سال 1391 پس از 12 سال سرانجام مجوز فعالیت گروه در ایران توسط وزارت ارشاد صادر شده و اولین آلبوم رسمی گروه در ایران با نام "این خرقه بیانداز" با اعضای جدید و جوان گروه (نیما رمضان، روزبه قلیپور، پویا شمالی و سامان وندادی) ضبط و منتشر شد
آلبوم صوتی اجرا در برج آزادی به نام "اوهام در آزادی" به شکل Double CD در سال 1394 توسط نشر کوک منتشر و به بازار عرضه شد. این آلبوم شامل کنسرت کامل در برج ازادی و اجرای 15 آهنگ از قطعات محبوب است.
در پائیز 1400 اوهام شروع به کار بروی آلبوم جدید خود نمود که این اولین همکاری مجدد اعضای گروه در یک آلبوم کامل پس از دو دهه فاصله بود. مانند اولین آلبوم اوهام، ضبط آلبوم جدید فقط با حضور شهرام، بابک و شاهرخ انجام شد (که شاهرخ ایزدخواه پارت های گیتار را در ونکوور کانادا ضبط و ارسال نمود).
آلبوم جدید اوهام با نام ' شط شراب ' 17 اسفند ماه سال 1400 به صورت رسمی توسط گروه و از طریق سایت های اوهام و شهرام شعرباف منتشر و عرضه گشت. انتخاب مبلغ خرید این آلبوم ( رایگان یا به هر قیمتی که مایل هستید ) به عهده هواداران گذاشته شده و لینک های دانلود رایگان به مدت 6 ماه باز بودند.
در شهریور سال 1403 اوهام نسخه دوم از فعالیت خود را نیز آغاز کرد: آثاری از گروه که با اشعاری غیر از حضرت حافظ و موزیکی متفاوت تر از قبل تولید می شوند با نام اوهام ورژن دو و لوگوی خاص آن منتشر می گردند. تا کنون سه تک آهنگ از ورژن دوم اوهام تولید و منتشر شده است.
